A philosopher by background, my research focuses on ancient Greek and Roman philosophy and their later reception. I have worked mainly on Stoicism and in particular Roman Stoics. Recent books include Hellenistic Philosophy (Oxford, 2018) and Marcus Aurelius (Routledge, 2021). I am currently editing volumes on Marcus Aurelius and Musonius Rufus. I’m a member of the Classical Association and of the Institute of Classical Studies’ library development committee. I’m also involved in the London Centre for Ancient Philosophy, which is affiliated with the Institute of Classical Studies. For further information see www.johnsellars.org.uk
